John ThompsonPresident John Thompson, founder and president, attended the University of Georgia and studied design at the School of Landscape Architecture. He owned a successful building and landscape contracting business for fifteen years in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he completed many residences in Palm Beach, Polo and Florida’s “Gold Coast”, including the personal residence of golfer Greg Norman. John was a well respected member of the Palm Beach Chapter of the American Contractors Association for over ten years before moving his family to Western North Carolina in 1995. Thompson Properties, Inc. has a North Carolina Unlimited General Contractors License (the highest level obtainable), which allows John to build any home in North Carolina, regardless of the cost. He has been building luxury homes in Western North Carolina for over twelve years, including the most expensive home sold in Buncombe County in 2005. While offering the highest level of quality, John also brings projects in on time and on budget and builds every home as if it were his own. John has built a successful custom building company by satisfying every client and implementing the latest technology and business systems. He has been a member of the Asheville Home Builders Association for over ten years (and has won numerous awards in the annual Parade of homes) and attends the National Home Builders Association conferences regularly to ensure that his company is on the cutting edge of innovative building technologies and products. John also believes in giving back to the community which has helped make him successful, and is a member of the DeToqueville Society of the Asheville Buncombe United Way and the YMCA President’s Club. Thompson Properties, Inc. also began a scholarship program in 2006 through the Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College to benefit deserving students earning their Associates Degree in Construction Management. |
Nancy B. ThompsonCo-Owner Nancy Thompson received the Asheville Chamber of Commerce's 2005 Leadership Award for "a woman who personifies the highest level of professional excellence". Her passion for excellence is also why she loves the unique hand crafted homes built by Thompson Properties, Inc. Nancy's strong commitment to serving the community also earned her the Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 2002. She serves as a director on numerous boards representing the arts, education and business organizations. Her community knowledge and contacts are easily translated into providing the highest level of customer service as she welcomes new homeowners to Asheville and helps make their transition a fun, rewarding experience. Nancy currently serves on the following Boards of Directors in Asheville, and would welcome the opportunity to help you become involved in our community:

Charles GondaDirector, Construction Operations Chuck attended Youngstown State University in Youngtown, Ohio as well as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts where he studied Mechanical Design. He continued his eduction with post graduate work in project management, leadership development and human resources. Chuck served ten years in the Armed Forces within the United States and overseas. Chuck says that his love of this area, his desire to preserve this region for future generations and the kind-hearted spirit of the residents led him to move his family to this area from Northeast Ohio in 2007. His strong belief in building energy efficient and sustainable, healthy built homes is what led him to Thompson Properties, Inc. Chuck's attention to detail, likeable personality and management skills allow him to effectively oversee the operations of Thompson Properties, Inc., successfully integrating with both property owners and site managers. |
Sherri GondaDirector, Administration Sherri has attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois as well as Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina where she studied accounting and business management. Encompassing a diverse knowledge in accounting and office administration established from positions held over the last ten years, Sherri has contributed a level of experience which adds an invaluable dimension to Thompson Properties, Inc. Sherri believes strongly in excellent communication and organization between customer and builder and strives to make the building process an enjoyable and memorable experience. |
